Virtue & Pound Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of engines and automobiles .

Company history

DE Virtue, CL Pound and ET Winship merged in 1901. They started the company in Owatonna , Minnesota . Mainly they made engines. In addition, at least three automobiles were built between 1901 and 1903 . The brand name was Owatonna . Winship withdrew early.

In 1903, Thiem & Company took over the production rights and machines for a single-cylinder engine with 3 HP output , and until 1904 some passenger cars were manufactured with these engines , but these were branded by Thiem.

The production of stationary engines continued until around 1917.

Only one model was on offer. Two sources state that the engine made 10 hp . Another source mentions a gasoline engine with 9 hp. The original price was 1,250 US dollars .
