Fredonia Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was based in Youngstown , Ohio . It manufactured individual automobiles from 1895. Series production began in September 1902. The brand name was Fredonia . In the summer of 1904 the bankruptcy followed . Production ended with that.

vehicles

The first vehicle was built in 1895. Depending on the source, a few or one or two vehicles followed either in 1895 or 1896. Doctor Carlos Booth bought one of these vehicles. According to the company, this was the first sale of a passenger car with a gasoline engine to a doctor in the United States. The engine came from W. Lee Crouch. Booth designed the body. The exact connection to Crouch and his later Crouch Automobile Manufacturing and Transportation Company is unclear.

The production models had single-cylinder engines .

From 1902 to 1903 there was the 9 HP , whose engine developed 9 HP . The chassis had a wheelbase of 183 cm . Construction was a runabout . There was also a 10 HP in the range. The engine developed 10 hp. The wheelbase was 221 cm. The vehicles were bodied as a tonneau .

In 1904 a 10/12 HP was the only model. The engine output was specified as 10/12 hp. The wheelbase measured 213 cm. There was a choice of a two-seat runabout and a five-seat touring car .
