The Springfield Automobile Company , previously Springfield Automobile & Industrial Company , was an American automobile manufacturer from Springfield, Ohio .

description

The first attempt was made in 1899, but it failed. A "555 lbs (note: approx. 252 kg) petrol carriage" was announced, from which nothing more could be heard afterwards. Springfield was planned as a brand name .

When WC Bramwell and his son CC Bramwell came to Springfield in 1903 , they convinced management to make a second attempt. The Bramwells could at least refer to the Bramwell Robinson automobiles that were built according to their plans. The Bramwells revised their last design for Bramwell-Robinson and launched the 8 hp water-cooled runabout that same year. The wheelbase was 1800 mm (72 inches). In the summer, the production rate was already three vehicles per week. In late 1903, the name changed to Springfield Automobile Company when the Bramwells took full control. The brand name was Bramwell from 1904 until it was discontinued in 1905 .
