WA Salter Motor Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

William Salter founded the company in September 1909. The company was based in Kansas City , Missouri . He started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Salter . Production ended in 1915.

Salter then ran a mechanical workshop.

Only one model was on offer. It had a four-cylinder engine with a bore of 120.65 mm , a stroke of 139.7 mm and a displacement of 6388 cc . The engine was specified with 30 hp . A two-speed planetary gearbox without reverse gear was unusual . A special device on the rear axle still made it possible to drive backwards.

The chassis had a wheelbase of 279 cm . There was a choice of a two-seat roadster for $ 1,700 and a five-seat touring car for $ 1,750.
