Chalfant Gasoline Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1905 in Lenover , Pennsylvania . Harry Chalfant, Millard F. Chalfant and W. Howard Chalfant directed it. Horace S. Boyd and William Michener were also with the company. They manufactured automobiles from 1905 to 1912, which were marketed as Chalfant . A total of around 50 vehicles were built.

The first model had a water-cooled two - cylinder engine with 22 hp . It drove the rear axle via a planetary gear and two chains. The wheelbase was 229 cm. Initially, only a touring car was available, which cost $ 1200 . A runabout with the same chassis was also available on request.

In 1907, the touring car cost $ 1,300. The runabout was no longer mentioned.

In 1908 a model with a four-cylinder engine came out. Chalfant ordered parts for twelve vehicles.
