Dowagiac Motor Car Company , also Dowagiac Auto-Car Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

A group of residents of Dowagiac , Michigan, took over what was left of the JV Lindsley Auto Chassis Company in 1909 . Frank Lake was one of them. They continued the production of automobiles. The brand name was Dowagiac . Were planned also commercial vehicles and a larger passenger cars with the brand name Doe-wah-Jack .

In July 1909, Frank Lake and another employee died in an accident. Then production ended. A total of 15 vehicles were built.

The Tulsa Auto Manufacturing Company took over the factory equipment.

The cars were the same as the Lindsley. They were highwheelers . The chassis had a wheelbase of 198 cm . A two-cylinder engine with 10 hp drove the rear axle via a chain. Model B was a runabout and Model C was a Stanhope .
