Cyco-Lectric Car Company was an American manufacturer of motor vehicles . Other sources use the names Cyco Letric Car Company , Cycolectric Car Company, and Cyco-Electric Car Company .

Company history

The company was based in New York City . It manufactured automobiles from 1915 to 1916 , which were marketed as Volta-Car . Another source gives the construction period with 1914 to 1916 and the brand name with Volta Car .

The company made electric cars. The electric motor came from General Electric . It drove the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The maximum speed was specified with 24 km / h and the range with 56 to 80 km. The best-selling model was a light delivery van with a payload of around 227 kg . There was also a two-seater roadster . The original price was 585 US dollars .

A wheelbase of 173 cm has been handed down for the delivery vans . The batteries were mounted under the driver's seat. The seat was in the back, the loading area in front. The solid rubber tires were striking .

The sources refer to the vehicles as cycle cars . It is unclear whether their heavy batteries kept the 350 kg weight limit for cycle cars.
