Elkhart Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
EC Crow, his son Martin E. Crow, FO Hudson, and Willard W. Sterling founded the company in April 1908. The company was based in Elkhart , Indiana . Both Crow left the company and founded Crow-Elkhart . Hudson and Sterling began manufacturing automobiles in 1909. The brand name was Sterling and, unofficially, Komet in 1911 . In January 1911, the engine supplier Model Gas Engine Works filed a lawsuit because fewer than the contractually stipulated 1,000 engines were accepted. In May 1911, Hudson and Sterling sold the company to a consortium of people who had previously worked for the Haynes Automobile Company .
In 1909, 221 vehicles were manufactured. In the following year 258 and in 1911 still 383 were built. In total, that's 862 vehicles.

All models had four-cylinder engines .
In 1909 the Model C had a 40 hp engine. The chassis had a 300 cm wheelbase . The only superstructure offered was an open touring car . In addition, there was the Model K . Its engine developed 30 hp. The wheelbase was 292 cm. Available were runabout , Surrey and touring cars.
In 1910 the Model C remained unchanged. There was also the Model O , which corresponded to the smaller model from the previous year. Runabouts, touring cars and torpedoes have survived .
In 1911 only the Model R was in the range. The engine was now specified with 30/40 hp. The wheelbase was 318 cm. There was a choice of Speedster with two seats, Roadster with front doors and four seats, Close-Coupled Touring Cars with four seats and Touring Cars with front doors and six seats.
