The Asheville Light Car Company was an American automobile manufacturer.

Company history

EC Merrill founded the company in Asheville , North Carolina in 1914 . He manufactured there cyclecars under the name Asheville . Production ended in 1915 when the company was dissolved.

The Asheville was a roadster with a relatively long hood and two seats at the end. He was with an air-cooled V-2 engine of Indian equipped, who developed 7 hp (5.1 kW). The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a two-speed gearbox and a flat belt. The narrow wire-spoke wheels were suspended from cantilever springs. The wheelbase was 2388 mm. The weight was 204 kg. The simple car cost 450, - USD . For comparison: A Ford Model T in the 1914 model year cost $ 500 in the cheapest version as a two-seater runabout .
