DD Snyder & Company was an American manufacturer of vehicles .
Company history
David D. Snyder moved from Auburn , Indiana to Danville , Illinois in 1885 . There he founded the company. At first he made carriages . From 1906 individual automobiles were made. Series production of automobiles began in 1908. The brand name was Snyder . In 1909 the production of motor vehicles ended . Carriages continued to be made. Then there was the painting of bodies.
In 1915, Snyder had to give up the company due to illness. He died on May 26, 1916.
There was no association with the Snyder Motor & Manufacturing Company , which used the same brand name in 1914.
Motor vehicles
Highwheelers were on offer . They had a two-cylinder engine with air cooling . 103.1875 mm bore and 101.6 mm stroke resulted in a displacement of 1699 cc . The engine output was specified with 10/12 HP and was transmitted to the rear axle via a two-speed planetary gearbox and two chains. The structure was an open runabout with two seats. Was steered with a steering wheel . The original price was 450 US dollars .
