In August, the Carhartt Automobile Corporation plant was taken over. In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Monarch . By May 1914 150 vehicles had already been completed. Hupp wanted to expand and designed a bigger engine. In May 1915 new investors had to help out. In the spring of 1916 bankruptcy followed . The Carter Brothers Motor Company of Maryland took over all rights in November 1916.
