Homer Laughlin Engineers Corporation was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Homer Laughlin founded the company in Los Angeles , California in 1913 . He started developing an automobile. On June 28, 1916 it was reported that the first three vehicles had been completed. Ten more vehicles were to be built according to customer orders. The brand name was Homer Laughlin . The project was dropped in early 1917.

In 1918 transmission parts for Ford cars were produced. After that, a chain tractor was designed.

In 1919 the company was dissolved.

Only one model was on offer. It had a V8 engine rated at 16 hp . 57.15 mm bore and 95.25 mm stroke resulted in 1955 cc displacement . The front-wheel drive was progressive . What was unusual was the friction transmission , which was used more often on weaker and cheaper vehicles. The chain drive was out of date.

The chassis had a wheelbase of 284 cm . The only structure was an open roadster with two seats. The original price was 1050 US dollars .
