Detroit Cyclecar Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in Detroit , Michigan in 1913 . In August 1913, AR Thomas announced the imminent start of production. The vehicle was designed by Ernest Weigold, who previously worked for ER Thomas-Detroit Company and Herreshoff Motor Company . The brand name was Detroit , unofficially from Little Detroit and Detroit Speedster . Production ended in 1914.

The Saginaw Motor Car Company from Saginaw , Michigan continued production under its own brand name.

The only model was called the Cyclecar , although it did not meet the criteria. A water-cooled four - cylinder engine with a displacement of 1500 cm³ drove the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The curb weight was given as 386 kg. The chassis had a wheelbase of 234 cm . The open roadster offered space for two people side by side.
