Rex Motor Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

CH Blomstrom had headed the Blomstrom Manufacturing Company until 1914 . After it was dissolved, he founded the new company in the same year. The seat was also in Detroit , Michigan . WJ Frasier, Frank Lemerise, CH Riopelle and Alfred Robinson were also involved. They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Rex . In March 1914 there were plans for a larger plant in Ford City , but they were not implemented. Production ended in 1914.

There was no association with the Rex Motor Car Company , which used the same brand name a few years earlier.

Only one model was on offer. Some sources mistakenly refer to it as a cyclecar even though it did not meet the criteria. The four-cylinder engine had a bore of 69.85 mm , a stroke of 114.3 mm and a displacement of 1752 cm³ . The capacity limit for cycle cars was 1100 cm³. The engine was specified as 14.5 / 18 hp , 12.5 / 18 hp or 14/18 hp , depending on the source . The motor designed by Blomstrom himself was water-cooled . It drove the left front wheel via a cardan shaft . There is no differential . The chassis had a wheelbase of 254 cm . The track width was normally 122 cm. On request, however, a wider version was also available, which had the standard track width of 142 cm for US vehicles at the time. The roadster offered space for two people side by side. The curb weight was given as 263 kg and the top speed was 72 km / h. The original price was 395 US dollars .
