Dodge Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Alvan M. Dodge had previous automotive experience with Wahl Motor Company . In February 1914 he founded the company together with Edwin Herzog, J. Mayor Leman and EO Millay. The seat was in Detroit , Michigan . The production of automobiles began, which were marketed as Dodge . In the summer of 1914, a vehicle was exhibited at the Michigan State Fair . There it became known that a younger company from the same city was using the same brand name, Dodge . Alvan took Dodge to court in August. Not until January 1916 was a judgment passed. It fell out against Alvan Dodge. Production ended in 1914 after a few months. Few vehicles were made.

Only one model was on offer. A four-cylinder engine with 25 hp power drove the rear axle via a friction gear and two chains. The chassis had a wheelbase of 259 cm and the usual American track width of 142 cm. A roadster sold for $ 495 and a touring car was sold for $ 595.
