Century Manufacturing Company , before Century Electric Motor Car Company , was a American manufacturer of automobiles from Michigan .

Company history

The John Gillespie, Inc. founded in May 1912 Century Electric Motor Car Company in Detroit . The production of automobiles began, which were marketed as Century . In May 1914, Edwin Denby took over the company and changed the company name to Century Manufacturing Company . Production ended in 1915 when the company went bankrupt .

There were no affiliations with the Century Motor Vehicle Company and the Missouri Century Manufacturing Company , which used the same brand name.

Electric cars were on offer . The Underslung design was unusual . Was steered with a steering lever. There was a choice of solid rubber tires and pneumatic tires . The electric motors came from Westinghouse .

1912 there was the Model E . The wheelbase was 246 cm. Are Narrated Roadster and Brougham .

Model B followed in 1913 . The wheelbase was lengthened to 249 cm. The only body shape was a brougham.

1914 from the model LB . The chassis now had a wheelbase of 264 cm. Again, only one brougham was available.

In 1915 the wheelbase was retained. Now there were two different broughams to choose from. The model LB offered space for five people. The model SB was a four-seater.
