Detroit Auto Vehicle Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in Detroit , Michigan in 1904 . FH Blackman was President, Joseph Lowthian Hudson Vice President, HH Lind Secretary and B. Wuryburger Treasurer. They started producing automobiles in 1905. The brand name was Crown . The vehicles did not prove themselves. In 1906 Edward T. Ross was hired by Cadillac as a designer. The cars he designed were assigned to model year 1907 and were unofficially called Detroit . John North Willys accepted the entire annual production in 1907. Bankruptcy followed in October 1907 .

There were no affiliations with the Crown Motor Vehicle Company and the Crown Motor Car Company , which used the same brand name.

From 1905 to 1906 there were three models in the range. Two of them had two-cylinder engines . In the 12 HP it made 12 HP and in the 16 HP 16 HP. The former was a runabout and the other was a light delivery truck . The wheelbase was a uniform 198 cm. The 24 HP had a four-cylinder engine with 24 HP, a chassis with a 251 cm wheelbase and an open touring car body .

For 1907 the new 22/24 HP replaced the previous models. It had a two-cylinder engine that was specified with 22/24 hp. The wheelbase was 244 cm. It was available as a runabout and touring car.
