Gatts was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Alfred Parmer Gatts was born in 1883. His family worked in agriculture . He was interested in technology and ran a mechanical workshop on his family's farm in Bethel , Ohio . There he manufactured five motor vehicles in 1905 . He sold three of them and kept two for himself. The brand name was Gatts . Gatts was still busy with automobiles in the 1950s. It is unclear whether he was still running his workshop at that time.

Gatts died in 1963.

The first vehicle was a high wheeler . An air-cooled single-cylinder engine was mounted in the rear and drove the rear axle. Leonard Moon from Mount Orab the buyer for 100 was the US dollar .

Gatts sold the second vehicle to Mose Brooks of Greenbush for $ 350.

The third vehicle was bought by William Burkel from Amelia for $ 150. One illustration shows an open runabout with space for two people. This vehicle has been preserved.
