De Mars Electric Vehicle Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

William O. De Mars experimented on motor vehicles since 1902 . In December 1904 he founded the company in Cleveland , Ohio . John R. Blakeslee and his son CJ Blakeslee also worked for the company. They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was De Mars .

In February 1906, CJ Blakeslee took over the company along with other people and made it the Blakeslee Electric Automobile Company .

Electric cars were on offer . An electric motor with 1.5 PS power drove the rear axle via one or two chains. The chassis had a wheelbase of 180 cm . The only body style offered was a two-seat Victoria .
