Triumph Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

John H. Behrens founded the company in Chicago , Illinois in 1907 . In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Triumph . CL Halladay was superintendent. Eric B. Christopher was in charge of sales. He brought his two brothers ME and RB into the company.

In August 1907 Vincent Hugo Bendix and OM Delauney, who previously worked for the Holsman Automobile Company , bought the company. Production ended in 1912.

There was no association with Triumph Motor Vehicle Company , which used the same brand name a few years earlier.

All vehicles had a four-cylinder engine . A special feature was a device for starting the engine.

In 1907 the Model A had a 30 HP engine, a chassis with a 274 cm wheelbase and was bodied as a runabout with two and three seats. In the Model B , the engine developed 45 hp. The wheelbase was 287 cm. The open touring car offered space for five people.

In 1908, both models were specified with 30 hp and a 288 cm wheelbase. Model A was now referred to as a roadster with two and three seats.

In 1909 the engine output was increased to 35 hp. The Model A was 277 cm wheelbase. The Model B with 287 cm wheelbase was now also as a sedan available.

From 1910 to 1911 the engine developed 40 hp. When model B is the wheelbase has been extended to 290 cm. The limousine was omitted.

1912 saw a reduction in engine power to 35 hp. The wheelbase was 290 cm for the Model A and 300 cm for the Model B .
