Kansas City Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in October 1905 in Kansas City , Missouri . The former factory of the Caps Brothers Manufacturing Company was selected as the factory . FE Wear was president. JC Caps was initially involved in the development of the vehicles. In 1906 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was initially Kansas City . In the middle of 1906, LM De Dieterich became the new designer. Now trucks were added that were offered as Dieterich . In December 1907 the bankruptcy began . In June 1908 there was a reorganization under Wear. Now AR Walton was the designer who previously worked for the Dorris Motor Car Company .

In early 1909, the Wonder Motor Car Company was established as the successor company .

In 1906 there were three models to choose from. The 20 HP had a two-cylinder engine with 20 HP power. The chassis had a wheelbase of 244 cm . The setup was a two-seat runabout . In the 25 HP the two-cylinder engine made 25 HP. The wheelbase was 262 cm. The open touring car offered space for four people. The most powerful model was the 30 HP . Its four-cylinder engine developed 30 hp. The wheelbase measured 229 cm. The touring car had five seats.

In 1907 there were two four-cylinder models. In the 55/60 HP it made 55 HP and in the 75 HP 75 HP. The wheelbase of the weaker model is not recorded, but the stronger model was 305 cm. The bodies were in each case seven-seater touring cars.

In 1908 the range only consisted of the 18 HP Buggy motor . The four-cylinder engine developed 18 hp. The structure is described as a motor buggy with two seats.

In September 1908, a prototype took part in a 1,600-kilometer test drive, but was canceled after about two thirds of the route. Only the Wonder Motor Car Company brought this model into series production.
