Vernon Automobile Corporation was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in Mount Vernon , New York , in 1918 . It belonged to the engine manufacturer Able Engine Company . Norton L. Dods ran it. ME Cheney was chief engineer. In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Vernon . Production ended in 1920. The company was dissolved. However, Dods still sold existing vehicles until 1921.

The Vernon Motor Car Company used a few years before the same brand name.

There were two models in the range. The model name included the number of cylinders and the model year . The engines came from the Able Engine Company.

In 1919 there was the Model 419 . It had a four-cylinder engine that was specified with 15.6 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 262 cm . There was a choice of Clubster with four seats, Phaeton with five seats, Roadster with two and three seats and Raceabout with two seats. The Model 819 ranked above this . It had a V8 engine that was specified with 22 hp. The wheelbase was 292 cm. Phaeton with five seats, Clubster with four seats and Roadster with two and three seats are mentioned.

From 1920 to 1921 it became the Model 420 and Model 820 . The technical data and the wheelbases did not change, only the range of bodies. The smaller model was available as a tourabout with five seats, chumabout with four seats, runabout with three seats and raceabout with two seats. The larger model was in the price lists as a Tourster with seven seats, Clubster with four seats, Sportster with five seats, Roadster with three seats and Speedster with two seats.
