Bradfield Motors Inc. was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

HD Bradfield had previous automotive experience with the Yellow Cab Manufacturing Company . He founded the company in Chicago , Illinois in the late summer of 1928 . He planned the production of taxis , buses and trucks . Only taxis actually came onto the market, designed by George Daubner, who previously worked as chief engineer at Yellow Cab. They were first presented in January 1929 at the New York Automobile Show . The brand name was Bradfield . Production took place at the Kissel Motor Car Company in Hartford , Wisconsin . This company went bankrupt in September 1930 . Bradfield rented part of the Kissel plant from November 1931 and completed 60 vehicles for which orders had been placed. Production ended with that.

The vehicles had six-cylinder engines , which was unusual because many other taxis only had four-cylinder engines . The engine performance is not recorded. Superstructures were sedans .

From 1929 to 1930 there were two models. The Model 57-C had a 297 cm wheelbase chassis . The slightly larger Model 67-B had a 318 cm wheelbase.

In 1931 there was only the Model 57-C , which corresponded to the previous Model 57-B .
