Murray Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles from Pennsylvania .

Company history

William M. Murray founded the company in Pittsburgh in 1916 . In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Murray . In December 1916, the first vehicles were on the New York Show . Production ended in 1920. 121 vehicles were built in 1917, 87 in the following year and 61 in 1919. That makes a total of 269 vehicles.

A successor company of the same name tried in Newark , New Jersey, in vain between 1920 and 1921 to continue production. This was only achieved by the company of the same name from Boston in Massachusetts from 1921 to 1931.

The Church Manufacturing Company had already marketed vehicles as Murray between 1902 and 1903 .

Only one model was on offer. The Eight had a V8 engine of Herschell-Spillman . It was specified with 34 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 325 cm . In 1917, a touring car with seven seats and a roadster with two seats were available.

In 1918 the roadster remained unchanged. The touring car now had four seats. There was also a limousine with five seats.
