Research Engineering Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
OH Spencer founded the company in Dayton , Ohio in 1920 . In 1921 the production of passenger cars began . The brand name was Spencer . Commercial vehicles were planned. Production ended in 1922. In total, only a few vehicles were built.
There was no association with Spencer of Hartford , Connecticut , who used the same brand name between 1899 and 1902.

Spencer had developed the vehicle and the engine himself. It was an air-cooled four-cylinder engine with OHV valve control . The engine output was given as 42 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 262 cm . The only structure was an open touring car with five seats. The curb weight was given as 680 kg. The original price was 1,200 in the first year US dollar . The following year it was reduced to $ 850.
