Texas Motor Car Association was an American manufacturer of automobiles . One source uses the name Texan Motor Car Association , but this is refuted by an advertisement and the illustration of a stock.

Company history

HJ Wells from Detroit and FE Crotto from Dallas founded the company in December 1917. The company was based in Fort Worth , Texas . They planned the production of automobiles, but this was delayed because of the First World War . In 1920 JC Vernor was president, William Ginnuth was vice president, CF Sanders was secretary and treasurer, and JT Sandwich was a manager. Production began in 1920. The brand name was Texan . In October 1920 financial problems became known. The bankruptcy began. In April 1921 there were 100 unfinished vehicles in the factory. These were probably completed. In April 1922 the factory was sold and the company closed.

According to one source, fewer than 200 vehicles were built. Another source names 150 passenger cars and a few commercial vehicles .

Three vehicles should still exist.

There were two models on offer, which differed only slightly from each other. Commonality was a four-cylinder engine from Lycoming with 35 hp power. Body styles were a touring car with five seats and a roadster with two seats.

The Model A-38 had a chassis with a 287 cm wheelbase . The B-38 model had a wheelbase of 292 cm. The difference in the new price was 300 US dollars , which indicates that the more expensive model is better equipped.
