American Red Ball Transit Company , formerly Red Ball Transit Company , is an American company.

Company history

Ward B. Hiner founded the Red Ball Transit Company in Indianapolis , Indiana on May 19, 1919 . He worked in the transportation industry. At times he used trucks from the US Motor Truck Company .

In 1923 he hired the engineer Charles Glaser. Glaser developed its own commercial vehicles . They were initially created in the plant in Indianapolis and a little later in Frankfort , also in Indiana. Taxis were also manufactured in 1924 . The brand name was Red Ball . Motor vehicle production ended in 1927. Now bodies for delivery vans were made of light metal .

Reorganization took place on January 3, 1939. One source gives this date as the foundation date. Clarence Kissel became the new president and remained so until 1963. This was followed by his son CS Kissel Junior. On August 27, 1964, Robert L. Hiner, the founder's son, acquired all shares and became the new president. On December 2, 1975, his son Dan succeeded him in this post. After his death in November 1979, Elmer Ostermeyer followed.

The company now operates as the American Red Ball Transit Company . Dalton A. Burdge runs it. Another source is John D. Morrissette.

One truck model was listed as 3 tons and had four-wheel brakes. There was also a version with six wheels.

The taxis were priced at $ 2,200 as new .
