Walden W. Shaw Livery Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Walden W. Shaw founded the company in Chicago , Illinois in 1908 . It initially operated as a dealership for American Locomotive Company , Premier Motors, and Reo Motor Car Company . At the end of 1908, John Daniel Hertz became his partner. Vehicles from the ER Thomas Motor Car Company have now also been sold. Chassis for taxis were later created .

In 1915, Hertz founded the Yellow Cab Manufacturing Company and the Walden W. Shaw Livery Corporation as a holding company .

In 1920 the production of automobiles began. The first public presentation took place during the Chicago Automobile Show Week in February 1920. The brand name was Shaw and may have been temporarily changed to Colonial . Production ended in 1921. The Yellow Cab Manufacturing Company continued production under the brand name Ambassador .

Other US manufacturers of passenger cars of the brand Shaw were JE Shaw & Company and Shaw Manufacturing Company .

vehicles

The vehicles initially had a four-cylinder engine from Rochester Duesenberg . It made 81 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 345 cm . Are Narrated Roadster with two seats, Phaeton with four seats and touring car with seven seats.

From July 1920, another engine was used. It was a V12 engine with overhead valve timing from the Weidely Motors Company . The wheelbase and superstructures did not change.
