Dey Electric Corporation was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in mid-1915 as the successor to Dey Electric Vehicle Syndicate . The seat was in New York City . The owner and namesake was Harry E. Dey, who had already headed Dey-Griswold & Company before the turn of the century . Charles Steinmetz was also involved, who later founded the Steinmetz Electric Motor Car Corporation . The first vehicles were presented at the New York Automobile Show in January 1917 . The brand name was Dey . Production ended in 1919. In total, only a few vehicles were built.

Electric cars were on offer . The electric motor was part of the rear axle and also served as a differential . A gear could be dispensed with. The chassis had a wheelbase of 254 cm . The structure was an open roadster or runabout .
