WB Robe & Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

WB Robe began developing a cycle car in 1910 . When he announced production at the end of 1913, three prototypes were ready. He founded the company in Portsmouth , Ohio and began manufacturing automobiles. The brand name was Robe . Production ended in 1915.

Robe again manufactured Robe brand vehicles in 1923 with Robe Motor Corporation .

Different data has been passed on to the vehicles. It is unclear whether there were different models. They were either cycle cars or small cars .

One source mentions a four-cylinder engine with 66.04 mm bore and 76.2 mm stroke . This resulted in a displacement of 1044 cm³ , which means that the displacement limit of 1100 cm³ for Cyclecars was complied with. The engine developed 11 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 213 cm . The roadster offered space for two people side by side. The curb weight was about 159 kg.

A second source mentions a four-cylinder engine with 1160 cm³ displacement, two-speed transmission and cardan drive . On the one hand 122 cm are mentioned as the track width , on the other hand the usual track width of 142 cm in the USA was also available. A roadster and a four-door torpedo roadster have survived.

A third source gives a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 70.6 cubic inches . That is the equivalent of 1160 cm³. The engine was water-cooled . Two-speed transmission and cardan drive are also mentioned. The wheelbase was 254 cm and the track width of your choice 117 cm or 142 cm. A roadster for US $ 325 , a luxury roadster with a starter for US $ 375 and a torpedo roadster with four doors for US $ 375 are mentioned.
