Arbenz Car Company , previously Scioto Car Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Fred C. Arbenz and his son Nand James founded the Scioto Car Company in Chillicothe , Ohio , in 1911 . The company name referred to the river Scioto River . They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Arbenz , often spelled ArBenz . Nand was the designer and CO Snyder the constructor of the vehicles. In 1912 the name was changed to Arbenz Car Company . Snyder left the company in December 1915. In March 1916, the National United Service Company took over the company. Production continued until 1918.

All models had four-cylinder engines . In the Four presented in 1911 it had 30/40 hp . The wheelbase was 305 cm. Model A was a two-seat roadster , Model B a four-seat torpedo, and Model C a five-seat touring car with four doors.

In 1914 the engine developed 27 hp. The wheelbase remained unchanged. Model F was a five-seat touring car, Model G was a four-seat touring car, and Model H was a two-seat roadster.

In 1915 the Four became the Model 40 . There were no changes in engine power or wheelbase. A two-seat roadster and a five-seat touring car were on offer.

The Model 25 from 1916 to 1918 had a four-cylinder Lycoming engine with 17 hp. The wheelbase was shortened to 274 cm. The only body shape was a five-seater touring car. The new price was only about a third of the previous models.
