Templar Motor Car Company , formerly Templar Motors Corporation , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Templar Motors Corporation was founded in Cleveland , Ohio in February 1917 . Matthew Frederick Bramley was president. The designer was Arthur M. Dean, who previously worked for the Pope Manufacturing Company and the Matheson Automobile Company . He was assisted by Paul F. Hackethal with experience at Mercer Motors Corporation , Allen Bartlett of FB Stearns Company and ME Morningstart, who previously worked for Chalmers Motor Car Company . In July 1917 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Templar .

In 1920 a shareholder filed for bankruptcy which was unfounded and dismissed. The plant burned down on December 13, 1921. In 1922 it went bankrupt.

In 1923 the name was changed to Templar Motor Car Company . TL Hausmann was now president. Production ended in 1924.

Most of the vehicles had a self-made four-cylinder engine with OHV valve control . It had 85.725 mm bore , 139.7 mm stroke , 3228 cm³ displacement and made 43 hp . Many other parts were bought in.

From 1917 to 1918 there was the 43 HP . The chassis had a 300 cm wheelbase . There was a choice of touring cars with four and five seats, a roadster with two seats and a sedan with five seats.

From 1919 the designation Model 4-45 can be found . The five-seat touring cars and limousines remained in the range. There was also a Victoria Elite with four seats, a touring roadster with two seats and a Sportette with four seats.

In 1920 the range of bodies consisted of touring cars and sedans with five seats, a coupé with four seats, and Sportette and Roadster with two seats.

In 1921 nothing changed.

In 1922 the Sportette had four seats and the Coupé only three.

In 1923 the coupé had four seats again. Another four-seater sport replaced the previous Sportette .

In 1924 this model remained unchanged. The Six completed the range. It had a six-cylinder engine that was specified with 27.34 hp. The wheelbase was 310 cm. Four-wheel brakes are mentioned separately. Are Narrated Phaeton with five seats, sports with four seats, Brougham with four seats and a sedan with five seats.
