Crown Motor Vehicle Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in Amesbury , Massachusetts in early 1908 . WA Shafer was President, previously a Bartholomew Company vehicle dealer . JR Graves was secretary and Frank Dodge was treasurer. The production of automobiles took place at the Graves & Congdon plant in the same location. The brand name was Crown . Shafer left in 1910. Then Graves & Congdon took over the company. The vehicles were then unofficially called Graves & Congdon . Production ended in 1910.

There were no affiliations with the Detroit Auto Vehicle Company and the Crown Motor Car Company , which used the same brand name.

Highwheelers were on offer . What all vehicles had in common was the air-cooled two-cylinder engine with 12 hp . It was mounted under the seat and drove the rear axle via chains. The chassis usually had 188 cm wheelbase , the Special 203 cm wheelbase. The superstructures were two-seat runabouts .
