Omar Motor Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles . Another source names the name Omar Motor Car Company , previously Child's Automobile Company .

Company history

Sam A. Mora, who also ran the Mora Motor Car Company , founded the company in Newark , New Jersey , in 1908 . William H. Birdsall was the designer. They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Browniekar . The bankruptcy began in 1910 . The company was auctioned on November 15, 1911. A total of around 1000 vehicles were built.

The vehicles were remarkably small and particularly suitable for children, but could also be driven by adults. A water-cooled single - cylinder four-stroke engine with a 76.2 mm bore , 88.9 mm stroke and 405 cm³ displacement developed 3.5 hp . It drove the rear axle via belts. The wheelbase was 168 cm. The open roadster offered space for two people side by side. The curb weight was given as 170 kg.
