Herff-Brooks Corporation was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

George, Herbert, and Jacob Herff sold Marathon Motor Works vehicles in Indianapolis , Indiana . HH Brooks was the sales manager at Marathon. Together they founded the company in Indianapolis in August 1913. At first they only sold Marathon vehicles. In 1914 they also made some vehicles for Marathon. Marathon went bankrupt in the summer . Herff-Brooks continued production at their own expense from 1915. The brand name was Herff-Brooks . Production ended in 1916.

There was also a connection to the Pontiac Chassis Company .

In 1915 there was the Model 4-40 . The four-cylinder engine developed 32 hp . The chassis had a 300 cm wheelbase . The bodies were a touring car with five seats and a roadster with two seats. The Model 50 was also part of the range. It had a six-cylinder engine with 38 hp. The wheelbase was 315 cm. The range of bodies corresponded to the other model.

In 1916 the Model 4-35 was the entry-level model. Compared to the previous year, the engine output was reduced to 26 hp and the wheelbase was shortened to 279 cm. The touring car remained unchanged with five seats, while five seats were now also specified for the roadster. The six-cylinder model was now called Model 6-50 . Only the wheelbase of 305 cm had been changed for him.
