Bour-Davis was an American automobile brand.

Brand history

Charles J. Bour, Robert C. Davis and EC Noe founded the Bour-Davis Motor Car Company in Detroit , Michigan in 1916 . In mid-1916, the production of automobiles began, designed by AA Gloetzner. The brand name was Bour-Davis . The press praised the vehicles. 1917 was the best sales year.

In 1918 the Shadburne brothers from Chicago , Illinois took over the company and continued production at a plant in Frankfort , Indiana .

From 1919 there was a new manufacturer with the Louisiana Motor Car Company . Their headquarters were in Shreveport and the plant in Cedar Grove , both in Louisiana . Parts for 700 vehicles were purchased in 1920, which turned out to be a bad decision given the post-war downturn. Bankruptcy began in June 1921 . Production ended in 1922.

In 1923 the Ponder Motor Manufacturing Company tried in vain to continue production.

vehicles

The vehicles consisted of many bought-in parts. The six-cylinder engines came from the Continental Motors Company . The respective type designation is an indication of the approximate year of production.

From 1916 to 1917 there was the Model 17 . Its engine developed 26 hp . The wheelbase was 300 cm. There was a choice of touring cars and touring sedans , both with five seats.

From 1918 to 1919 it was the Model 18 B . The engine output had been increased to 29.4 hp. The wheelbase remained unchanged. The limousine was omitted.

In 1920 there were two models. In the Model 20 the engine developed 42 HP and in the Model 21 55 HP. Both were available as five-seat touring cars. The chassis still had a 300 cm wheelbase.

In 1921 there was only one model in the range. This was the Model 21 S . Its engine was specified with 50 hp. The wheelbase was lengthened to 320 cm. Five- and seven-seat touring cars and a two-seat roadster are named .

In 1922 the only change was that the roadster now had three seats.
