Bush Motor Company

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bush Motor Company was an American automobile manufacturer.

description

The company was based in Chicago , Illinois , and marketed from 1916 to 1925.

Since June 1915, John H. Bush has been writing to potential automobile customers, praising them for the new Bush - in four- or six-cylinder engine versions - and sending out brochures about his - as yet non-existent - cars. If a customer showed that he was interested, Bush asked for prepayment and passed the order along with the money to automobile manufacturers he knew, who simply took the next corresponding copy from their production, provided it with “Bush” company badges and sent it to the customer.

Such manufacturers were Crow-Elkhart , Huffman Brothers Motor Company , Norwalk Motor Car Company , Piedmont Motor Car Company , Pullman Motor Car Company and Sphinx Motor Car Company . Bush sold a number of cars and named (without consulting) the customers he had just won as references. He was not granted great success, but his financial commitment was correspondingly low due to the advance payments.

In the early 1920s, most of his business partners gave up making automobiles and Bush couldn't find new ones. So the business finally died. After 1925 nothing more was heard from the company.
