Douglas Motors Corporation was an American manufacturer of motor vehicles . The name Douglas Motor Corporation can also be found in the literature .

Company history

The company was founded in Omaha , Nebraska , in the spring of 1918 . The Drummond Motor Car Company is considered to be the predecessor. In 1918 the production of passenger cars and commercial vehicles began . The brand name was Douglas . Car production ended as early as 1919. In 1923 a temporary bankruptcy administration was survived. Trucks were made until 1935.

Car

Only one model series was on offer. A V8 engine from Herschell-Spillman with 75 hp power propelled the vehicles. In most cases, the chassis had a wheelbase of 310 cm . There was a choice of a three-seater roadster and a five- and seven-seater touring car . The most expensive model was a Speedster Special with a 320 cm wheelbase.

213 vehicles have been handed down for 1918 and 121 for the following year.

For the trucks were payloads between 0.5 and 3.5 tonnes indicated. If it was American tons, this corresponded to 453 kg to 3175 kg.
