Morgan Motor Truck Company , previously Morgan Motor Company and RL Morgan Company , was an American manufacturer of motor vehicles .

Company history

Ralph L. Morgan founded the Morgan Motor Company in Worcester , Massachusetts in 1902 . He started with the production of commercial vehicles . The brand name was Morgan . According to a source, production temporarily ended in 1903.

In 1908 the RL Morgan Company followed . It remains unclear whether it was a renaming or a start-up. Ralph H. Morgan remained the driving force. William M. Steele was now also active in the company. In December 1912, Steele took control.

In 1913 the name was changed to Morgan Motor Truck Company . A passenger car was developed which was also to be marketed as the Morgan . Vehicle production ended at the end of 1913.

From 1914, Steele manufactured trucks under its own name. The company name was either WM Steele Company or William Steele Company .

The trucks were available with both steam and gasoline engines. They had a payload of two to three tons .

The car from 1913 was intended for the growing segment of cycle cars . It remains unclear whether he actually met the criteria for cycle cars. The vehicle remained a prototype .

There were no connections to the British Morgan Motor Company and the Morgan Morgan Company from Brooklyn, which used the same brand name.
