Mier Carriage & Buggy Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Solomon Mier founded the company in the 19th century. The seat was in Ligonier , Indiana . He made carriages . His son AB Mier also worked in the company from around 1900. In 1908 the production of automobiles began . The brand name was Mier . Around 100 vehicles were built in the first year. Motor vehicle production ended in 1909.

Carriages were made until the 1920s.

Motor vehicles

In 1908 there were Model A and Model B in the range. Both had a two-cylinder engine that was specified with 10/12 hp . It was mounted under the seat and drove the rear axle via a friction gear and two chains. The chassis had a wheelbase of 218 cm . Both models were bodied as a runabout . A front hood made it look like the engine was beneath it. This made the vehicles look more modern than many high-wheelers .

In 1909 the engine output of both models was given as 12 hp. Model A was a two-seat runabout and Model B was a doctor - Stanhope . There were also bigger and stronger vehicles. They had a two-cylinder engine with 18 hp and a wheelbase of 244 cm. Model C was a two-seat runabout. Model D was available as both a four-seat runabout and a four-seat Surrey.
