Termaat & Monahan Company was an American manufacturer of engines and automobiles .

Company history

John D. Termaat and Louis J. Monahan founded the company in 1902. The seat was in Oshkosh , Wisconsin . They made gasoline engines. Alton Ripley was a mechanic. He was the designer of the automobiles that were produced in 1906. The brand name was TM .

In 1909 there was a connection with the wealthy H. Homer Fahrney. Together with him, the Badger Manufacturing Company was founded, which also manufactured some automobiles. These were marketed as TMF .

Arthur C. Ziebell was employed by the Termaat & Monahan Company. In 1914 he designed a small vehicle called the Ziebell , which he completed in his employer's workshop. There were plans for a separate company, serial production and marketing, but these failed.

After 1914 the track of the company is lost.

The TM is described as a typical highwheeler and motor buggy of its time. It had an air-cooled engine. What was unusual for a vehicle of this type was the steering wheel on the left .

The Ziebell was called a cycle car. It is unclear whether he met the criteria. It had a four-cylinder engine , a two-speed planetary gear and cardan drive . The chassis had a wheelbase of 249 cm and a track width of 97 cm . The body was an open roadster .
