Aurora Automobile Company , previously the Aurora Carriage Top Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Aurora Carriage Top Company of Aurora , Illinois originally made parts for carriages . AJ Jeffrey, JM Spiker and ED Pinney ran the company. In 1905 they recruited WH Howe from the Chicago Automobile Company as a vehicle designer , renamed the company the Aurora Automobile Company and began manufacturing automobiles. The brand name was Aurora . Production ended in 1906.

There was no connection with the Emancipator Automobile Company from the same town, which from 1907 onwards used the same brand name for their vehicles.

The only model was a touring car . The chassis had a wheelbase of 254 cm . A four-cylinder engine with 30 HP power drove the rear axle via a friction gear and cardan shaft .
