Bellefontaine Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1907 as the successor to Zent Automobile Manufacturing Company . The seat was in Bellefontaine , Ohio . The automobiles now produced were sold as Traveler from 1907 to 1908 and as Bellefontaine in 1908 . After 1908 the company was only active as a workshop. At the end of 1916 there were again plans to manufacture vehicles again, but they were not carried out. At the time, AJ Miller was President, JH Welles Vice President, and EP Humphreys Secretary and Treasurer. In 1917 it merged with the Economy Motor Company .

Brand name Traveler

There were two similar models on offer. Both had a four-cylinder engine with 24/32 hp . The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . The chassis had a wheelbase of 264 cm . As a touring car, the open body offered space for five people. Model A had an air-cooled engine and Model B had a water-cooled engine.

Other American automobile manufacturers with this brand name were Neustadt Automobile & Supply Company (1905), Traveler Automobile Company (1910-1911), Traveler Motor Car Company (1913-1914) and Taxicab Manufacturing Company (1924-1925).

Brand name Bellefontaine

The only model was the Model B-8 . The four-cylinder engine developed 32 hp. The wheelbase was lengthened to 284 cm. This was also a five-seater touring car.
