BZT Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles . Another source uses the name BZT Cyclecar Company .

Company history

CK Ball, WH Zeh and DN Thompson founded the company in 1914. They chose the first letters of their names as their company name. The seat was in Owego in the US state of New York . In April 1914 the first prototype was ready, which was tested from May 1914. In 1915 production and marketing began. The brand name was BZT . Production ended in the same year.

Only one model was on offer. Some sources refer to it as a cycle car , even though it does not meet the criteria. The manufacturer specified light car , i.e. small car . Its two-cylinder engine was air-cooled . It had 88.9 mm bore , 101.6 mm stroke , 1261 cm³ displacement and was specified with 12/15 hp . It drove the rear wheels via a friction gear and a cardan shaft . The chassis had a wheelbase of 239 cm and a track width of 91 cm . The body of the vehicle was a two-seater roadster . The original price was 385 US dollars . For comparison: The longer, stronger and certainly more stable Ford Model T cost 440 dollars that year in the cheapest version.
