Great Southern Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in October 1909 in Birmingham , Alabama . EF Enslen has served as President, Ike Adler has served as Vice President, John J. Kyser as Secretary and Treasurer, and EF Enslen Jr. General Manager. It was not until January 1912 that passenger car production began . The brand name was Great Southern . Their production ended in 1914. Commercial vehicles were produced from 1915 to 1917. Then bankruptcy followed .

All vehicles had a four-cylinder engine .

From 1912 to 1913 there were two models in the range. In the 30 HP the engine made 30 HP . The chassis had a wheelbase of 287 cm . There was a choice of a five-seat touring car and a two-seat roadster . The 45/55 HP had an engine that was specified as 45/55 HP. Its wheelbase was 325 cm. The only structure was a touring car with six seats.

In 1914 the smaller model was discontinued. The remaining model was now called Fifty . A source gives 8600 cm³ cubic capacity . Another source gives 131.7625 mm bore , 152.4 mm stroke and 8312 cc displacement. The engine developed 50 hp. The wheelbase remained at 325 cm. The touring car had space for seven people.
