Cook Motor Vehicle Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1908 in St. Louis , Missouri . In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Simplo . Production ended in 1909.

The owners previously worked as a carriage manufacturer and later ran a car dealership . The company names have not been passed down.

The cars had a two - cylinder four-stroke engine . There was a choice between water cooling and air cooling for the motors. The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a friction gear and two chains. The chassis had a wheelbase of 218 cm . The customer could choose between solid and rubber tires , with the latter costing an additional $ 50 .

The Model C had an engine with 104.775 mm bore , 101.6 mm stroke and 1752 cc displacement . The engine output was specified as 14/16 hp . The structure was an open runabout with two seats.

The Model L had the same engine. It was bodied as a three-seater roadster .

The Model S was specified with 16/18 hp. The larger bore of 114.3 mm resulted in a displacement of 2085 cm³. The only structure was a Surrey with four seats.

One source describes the vehicles as highwheelers . The tire size was 28 inches . For comparison: the Ford Model T had 30-inch tires.
