Flint & Lomax Company was an American company. Other sources give the company names Flint-Lomax Electric Manufacturing Company and Flint-Lomax Electric & Manufacturing Company .
Company history
The company was based in Denver , Colorado . The earliest known mention is from 1896. In that year Isaac L. Smith was one of the staff. In 1897 James J. Flint is named. On June 30, 1900, a fire in the factory caused considerable damage. In 1905 the production of automobiles began . The first vehicle was presented at the Denver Automobile Show in April 1905 . Initially, Flint & Lomax was planned as the brand name , but Flintlo was ultimately chosen. Vehicle production ended in the same year.
It is not known when the company was dissolved.
Products
James J. Flint received on March 1, 1898 patent number 600,112 for an electrical switch, which he had applied for on February 16, 1897.
From October 1, 1897 and May 1, 1898, advertisements in The Mining And Metallurgical Journal are known, in which silver-plated amalgam plates were offered.
On July 9, 1898, the company advertised in the Mountain Echo to offer and repair electrical equipment of all kinds. There is a similar advertisement in the Yuma Pioneer on September 16, 1898 .
The only vehicle model was a passenger car . It had a four-cylinder engine with 14 hp . The engine had a displacement of 2400 cc . The OHV valve control was unusual for the time . The engine drove the rear axle via a three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . The structure was a tonneau with side access or a touring car that offered space for five people.
