Sterling Machine Works was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1907 in Sterling , Illinois . The Sterling Standard reported it on September 10, 1907. At the beginning of 1909 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Sterling . Production ended in the same year.

Frantz Specialty Manufacturing Company , founded on September 16, 1909, rented a building from Sterling. It is not known whether the company existed after 1909.

vehicles

The vehicles had a single cylinder engine with air cooling . An engine output of 20 hp was specified, which one source describes as doubtful. The structure was a motor buggy. As far as is known, at least two vehicles were built.
