Maxim Tri-Car Manufacturing Company , previously GH Bushnell Press Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Mr. Bushnell, the French Maxim Karminski and the German George Peters founded the GH Bushnell Press Company in 1911 . The seat was initially in Thompsonville , Connecticut . They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Maxim Tri-Car . Plans totaled 10,000 vehicles annually.

In July 1913, Bushnell got out. The company was renamed the Maxim Tri-Car Manufacturing Company and relocated to Port Jefferson, New York State . Only Motor Car Company was previously active in the plant there. Production ended in 1914. The company went bankrupt .

The only model was a tricycle with a front single wheel. It was similar to the German Phenomobile . The motor was mounted above the front wheel and drove it via a chain. The prototype had a single cylinder engine . In the series version, a two-cylinder engine with 8 hp was used.

The chassis had a wheelbase of 244 cm . The front bench seat offered space for two people. Then, depending on the design, there was a box for cargo or a second bench for two more people. The original price was 395 US dollars .
