Victor Motor Company , previously Victor Motor Car Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
CV Stahl founded the Victor Motor Car Company in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania in 1913 . In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Victor .
In early 1914 Stahl moved the headquarters to Greenville , South Carolina . AG Dale and OK Mauldin appeared there as donors.
In September 1916, the company moved to Wilmington , Delaware . The new company name was Victor Motor Company . WH Bischoff, CP Grandfield, Regnault Johnson and HH Skerrett were involved.
In the same year, Stahl announced that he wanted to move to Jenkintown , Pennsylvania.
In 1917 the headquarters were in York , Pennsylvania. Production ended in the same year. It is unclear whether vehicles were actually manufactured at all of the locations mentioned.
Other American manufacturers of passenger cars of this brand were Overman Automobile Company , Victor Motor Car Company and Richmond Cyclecar Manufacturing Company .
vehicles
The first vehicles were described as a mixture of a cycle car and a standard runabout . However, cyclecar is a vehicle class and runabout is a body shape.
In 1913 the Model 6 had a four-cylinder engine with 82.55 mm bore and 101.6 mm stroke . This resulted in a displacement of 2175 cm³ . The engine capacity limit for cycle cars of 1100 cm³ was thus clearly exceeded. The water-cooled engine was specified with 16.9 hp . It drove the rear axle via a three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . The chassis had 229 cm wheelbase and 132 cm track width , while the usual track width in the USA was 142 cm. The structure is called a roadster in a source and offered space for two people side by side. The original price was 475 US dollars .
Model 7 followed in January 1914 . The engine now had 85.725 mm bore, 95.25 mm stroke, 2199 cm³ displacement and 18 hp. In addition, the wheelbase was lengthened to 249 cm, the track was widened to 137 cm and the price increased to $ 500. The curb weight was given as 386 kg.
In 1915 the vehicle data did not change.
An engine with 32 hp and a price of 795 dollars has been handed down for 1917.
